Sarasota, Florida
It’s incredible how much unnatural noise exists today. I’m becoming more aware of it. I think of it like light pollution. It’s there, keeping nature from our sight as noise is from hearing nature or listening to our physiology. On this morning’s walk with Ripley, as we veered closer to the nearby park, I could hear the humdrum noise of vehicles on SR 64 and construction happening at a nearby community. It’s constant and increasing.
This makes me think about the reliance some have on noise-producing applications (e.g., white, pink, and brown). Why have we decided to introduce a synthetic buffer instead of electing to live without it? So, I was curious and decided to read up a bit more on the subject of noise. As it turns out, the impact on our physiology is not always so apparent, and some suffer far worse from it.
Later in the evening, Wendy and I went to dinner in downtown Sarasota for an evening together. It’s great for us to reconnect outside of the home, made for a great end to a busy work-week!
